iSTEM Elective Module 9 STEM Project Based Learning Minor – Module Overview

 

The STEM Project Based Learning Minor module is an elective of the iSTEM course. For the 200 hour iSTEM course, students must complete 150 hours of electivities over the two years and 50 hours of the core. Each iSTEM elective, including STEM Project Based Learning Minor, represent 25 hours of indicative study and therefore students must complete 6 electives over the two years. Schools are encouraged to take a ‘Unit of Work’ approach and combine electives and core units to make the most out of project, problem and inquiry based learning approaches.

In the STEM Project Based Learning Minor elective students are to develop and realise a minor STEM related Project-Based Learning Task. The project involves students utilising a project-based learning strategies to apply appropriate design, production and evaluation skills to a contemporary STEM based problem. The students relate the techniques and technologies used in previous modules to those used in the development of the STEM project. It is suggested that students follow the iSTEM process for the completion of minor PBL tasks.
